The museum shop

The first thing greeting our visitors up the hill from the parking lot is a modern building containing a café, museum shop and entrance to the Viking town.

Outside there is an open space with picnic tables, barbecue pit, 3 toliets and changing table for visitors and the Point, a scenic lookout point over the bay of Höllviken. You are welcome to bring and eat your own food here.

The building holds the fully licensed cafĂ©. During the museum season light affordable meals are served here with both indoor and outdoor seating available.

This year due to the corona virus pandemic restrictions the cafĂ© only offers limited sale of food and drink, but we warmly recommend the restaurant Smokey Barbecue & Pickles by the museum parking lot which offers a wide selection of food and full alcohol serving rights.

The museum shop is located here as well. In the shop you may buy Viking Age inspired items like books, jewelry, CDs, various souvenirs etc. You can also buy tea, coffee, soft drinks, beer, icecream, cookies and food. The café is fully licensed and may even serve strong beer and wine to the food.

The museum exhibition hall is located adjacent to the museum shop. The theme of this year's exhibitions are "The life of Vikings at Foteviken" and "Iron - from ore to objects". You can read more about the exhibitions on the Exhibitions page.

Just outside the museum shop you will find Smokey Point, our kiosk with outdoor seating and the best view of the sea in Höllviken. During the summer when the weather allows Smokey Point will offer warm paninis, ice cream and cooling drinks. We have full alcohol serving rights.
