Our Scanian King, Erik Emune, defended Scania in the battle at Foteviken 4 June 1134. The attackers were Eric's uncle King Niels and his son Prince Magnus. They had sailed over Eyrasundet (the strait) with his big fleet and landed just south of Foteviken. Heavily armed warriors waded ashore where they were met by Erik and his Hird. With the help of Archbishop Ascer of Lund with Hird and about 400 hired German horsemen was driven the enemy on the run.
At 11:34 houes we will gather at the rune stone which is erected as a memorial of the battle and the fallen warriors. After a speech and tribute to the fallen warriors, and according to the tradition of pouring mead on the stone, Viking warriors will perform a fighting show which symbolically recreates the battle of Foteviken - though on a smaller scale!
At every hour, starting at 12 o'clock, the tale of the battle of Foteviken will be told in Tinghöll. Once you have heard the exciting story you follow the warriors who will perform a fighting show.

Last year we introduced a harvest feast at Fotevikens Museum since we wanted to highlight our local craftsmen, and the fantastic harvest the local community can produce. It was a successful day with fun activities. This year we are doing it again with some significant changes.
This year’s Harvest Feast is an event organized and hosted by Handelsplats Höllviken at the beautiful scenery at Fotevikens Museum.
We have 40 exhibitors and vendors with a large variety of products. Ceramics, spices, flowers, vegetables, clothes, pastries, décor, jewellery, skin products, and other luxurious items are just a few of what we have on offer. We even have a hairdresser on site that can give you a fashionable and cheap hair cut!
During the day there are more things to do than just shop around. We have games with the harvest as a theme. You can bob after apples, throw horseshoes and have a sack race! We will even have pony tours, bunny jumping and different crafts you can try. Have ever used a real bow? Well, seize the opportunity and try some archery during our harvest feast!
For those of you that are interested in vehicles we will have antique tractors on display. A monster tractor will also be here, it is used during tractor pulling competitions. When that one starts up you can hear it far away. One of the high points of the day is the helicopter ride. If you’ve ever wanted to see Höllviken from above you can do so during our Harvest Feast.
What would a Harvest Feast be without entertainment? We have two Old-Time Americana bands playing, The Hyberg Family and New Sunny Side Ramblers. The multi-artist Ronnie Holmberg is going to walk around and play his guitar when he isn’t painting on his new and original art piece.
At the very end of our Harvest Feast we will have a torchlit march that ends in a bonfire. It starts next to BygdegĂĄrden and we will walk through the Viking village up towards The Stones of Hola where one of the children will get the opportunity to light the bonfire.
Opening Hours: 10-17
Please note that the activities will end at 16:30 in order to prepare for the torchlit march.
