The first thing greeting our visitors up the hill from the parking lot is a modern building containing a café, museum shop and entrance to the Viking town. Outside there is an open space with picnic tables, barbecue pit, outdoor tables for the café and two small buildings for selling and information, and a wing containing 3 toilets and one handicap toilet with a changing table for visitors.
The building holds the fully licensed restaurant Den Fede Gåsen, serving lunch all year around. This hall is also used for film screening for visiting schools, and as a lecture hall during evenings.
The museum shop is located here as well. In the shop you may buy Viking Age inspired items like books, jewelry, CDs, various souvenirs etc. You can also buy tea, coffee, soft drinks, beer, icecream, cookies and food. The café is fully licensed and may even serve strong beer and wine to the food.
The museum exhibition hall is located adjacent to the museum shop. The theme of this year's exhibitions are "The life of Vikings at Foteviken" and "Iron - from ore to objects". You can read more about the exhibitions on the Exhibitions page.
Aside from Foteviken Museum the concept Kulturcenter includes Höllvikens community centre, Foteviken holiday village, the restaurant Den Fede Gåsen and the Handicraft Institute of Scania. Click here for more information.
